Open Call to Artists – Mother Goose Image

Deadline for entries is: Friday, August 4th, 2017 at 4pm. $500 cash prize We are asking local Oceanside artists of all skill levels to submit their interpretation of a modern West Coast Oceanside Mother Goose for our new WOW bus.  The back drop is a deep sky blue.  We are looking for something whimsical and playful while not a large departure from a realistic image.  A few wee goslings surrounding her would add to the message we are trying to convey. Message:  Singing and playing together, oral traditions and honouring children is imperative to healthy community. Media: There is no restriction on media, it can be acrylic, watercolour, air brush, oils, pastels, pencil crayon, etc. Size: minimum 40 x 40 inches, can be square or rectangle. The image will be photographed and converted to vector in order to create decal to adorn the bus that could be as large at 8 x 8 feet. Winning selection will awarded a $500 prize and will be recognized in all of our promotions related to this Call for Submission.  The artist will retain their painting once all work is done. OBLT reserves all rights to use the image for other public relation purposes such as logo generation, pamphlets, sandwich boards, etc. SUBMISSION DETAILS Submissions will be accepted online below.  Entry be no larger than 2 MB for upload.  OBLT may request additional images. The original work of art must be made available to OBLT for preparation for installation.  The winning entry will be professionally photographed and digitized at no cost to the artist. The submissions will be juried by OBLT management and other selected individuals including local artists. All entries will be on display at a special exhibition hosted by the Oceanside Community Arts Council at the Parksville Community Conference Centre in September 2017. Pete the Cat – First Steps to School Fair

Our Second annual Meet Pete the Cat Event took place Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Oceanside Place Arena. This fee special event for pre-schoolers  and their adults is a huge hit with the kids.  Stay tuned for news on next year’s event. Stewardship Agreement for Storybook Village and Alphabet Gardens

We are pleased to announce that a stewardship agreement is now in place between School District 69 (Qualicum), Oceanside Building Learning Together and the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise.  Rotary Club volunteers will now be providing maintenance and repair work at Storybook Village and Alphabet Gardens.  The formal signing took place just before Spooktacular on Tuesday, October 27th where representatives of the three parties to the agreement were on hand.
