Volunteers needed at TLC

The Technology Learning Centre (TLC) in Parksville is currently looking for volunteers

We are a community program dedicated to fostering free public access to greater computer literacy and confidence among adults of all ages in the Parksville-Qualicum area. If you are a Parksville-Qualicum resident and have the time and desire to work as a volunteer helping others find their way with technology, we would like to hear from you. Some of the skills and interests of a typical TLC volunteer are:

  • The time to commit to at least one regular 2-3 hour volunteer shift each week.
  • Patience with others and clear communication skills.
  • Interest in working with other volunteers in a learning computer lab where you get a chance to access, learn about and work with various computer devices running different operating systems (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android)
  • Confidence with troubleshooting common computer problems (internet access, web browsing, password resets, basic smart phone use, etc.)
  • Current or previous IT or technical industry experience a bonus but not required.

There are currently several weekly volunteer computer support shifts we are looking to fill:

  • one 3 hour volunteer shift every Tuesday morning at the Parksville TLC computer lab from 9am – 12pm.
  • one 3 hour volunteer shift every Thursday morning at the Parksville TLC computer lab from 9am -12pm.
  • one 2 hour volunteer shift every Thursday afternoon at the Qualicum branch of the Vancouver Island Public Library (transportation provided) from 1pm – 3pm
